Friendships and Connections for Women on the Water

The northern migration of cruising yachts seeking the warmth of the tropics is well underway. As WWSA members head north along the Queensland coast, members, old and new, are enjoying catching up at secluded bays, popular islands, and busy marinas.

Old hands share local knowledge with those new to tropical cruising.

A safe anchorage in a rare northerly? Somewhere to wait out a boisterous southerly? An affordable marina with access to laundry facilities? Somewhere to leave the tender while provisioning or chasing a boat part? A dog-friendly beach or park to stretch Fido’s legs? Or just a coffee and cake chat.

We catch up with old friends and make new ones… but they don’t feel new for very long, the WWSA connection instantly makes new friends feel like old friends.

There’s a word for women on the water who help, support, and care – it’s our ethos, as women on-the-water it is in our blood, as is the ocean… its name? SisterShip.

The Gathering is fast approaching, new acquaintances will become familiar friends. Social media friends will grow. We’ll share, laugh, have fun, and learn.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all there.

Has WWSA or Women Who Sail – helped you form wonderful friendships?
